I have My Life in the Bush of Ghosts,by the same author though I've never read it. Emsitka, Autotune i am a big fan of these palm wine things. Palm Wine Music, Cooking Vinyl, 0:47:51 (). In my opinion, The Palm-Wine Drinkard is somewhat a difficult novel to review considering the fact that it is unlike anything I have ever read before. The copy pictured above is actually two novels (the other being 'My Life in the Bush of Ghosts'), and I like them both a lot. In The Palm-Wine Drinkard (first published by Faber and Faber in 1952), Nigerian writer Amos Tutuola explores the sobering effects invading colonial powers have on indigenous populations, imposing 'civilization' through violence. Magic is performed and supernatural beings and ghosts naturally interact with human beings. But who knows, I might read it one day. The Palm-Wine Drinkard was followed up by My Life in the Bush of Ghosts in 1954 and then several other books in which Tutuola continued to explore Yoruba traditions and folklore. Who wrote the visionary novel The Palm-Wine Drinkard and his dead Palm Tapster in the Deads` Town. Have you guys read the palm wine stories? Another of his works was the inspiration of the classic David Byrne and Brian Eno album My Life in the Bush of Ghosts.
